You Preach, I Pervert

If I held a mirror to your face,

And replayed the history of your species...

Would you still love me?

Or yourself?

Clamoring, clubbing, fighting, bickering, pointing.

Destroy or be destroyed, in this god eat god world.

At the hands of mercy, you shall believe.

Rally behind a system of function

Gather the masses to control production.

They say you can't lead yourselves,

And as your self esteem is erased,

Let us replace your grace with fashionable distaste.

You have forgotten you're special

No one is unequal

It's all really quite simple.

A tyrant is a man who allows his people no freedom.

Who is puffed-up by pride,
Driven by the lust of power,
Provoked by thirst for fame.

Divided and conquered,
Gripped by fear,

Wishful thinking that it can't happen here.
It's well underway but nobody knows!

A repeat of history,

That's how it goes!

Tell the people that they're under attack,
By man-eating foes from mars or Iraq!
Mobilize outrage,
Muzzle dissent.
Send in the troops,
Strike the pre-empt!

Stars & stripes,

Learn how to fight!

We come together by the dawn of the light!

Oh so proudly we hail as the rockets red glare,

Stars & stripes!

Control the airwaves,
Fuel the reaction.
Use every weapon of mass-distraction.
Turn active people into passive consumers,
Feed 'em bogus polls and harebrained rumors!

Cut back civil rights,
Make no mistake.
Tell 'em homeland security is now at stake!
Whip up a frenzy keep 'em suspended,
Don't let 'em know that their liberty's ended!

Stars & stripes,

Learn how to fight!

We come together by the dawn of the light!

Oh so proudly we hail as the rockets red glare,

Stars & stripes!

Everything goes in the desperate states,
The veneer of democracy rapidly fades.
Wreak total havoc on all opposition,
In any event fulfill your mission!

Totalitarian media sensation,
You will give 'em domination.
Never mind they call you a liar and thief,
By now you're undisputed commander-in-chief!

And as it goes, all you know:

The apathy that has successfully invaded your soul.

So batten down the hatches, of your rented home,

and pray to the lord you'll one day own.

A camaraderie of misery, but you're all too busy.

And this is why I'm sharing, 'cause I'll never stop caring.

Some would like to see a leader

In every strange character, that ventures out beyond.

Those who are foolish to perceive anyone, let alone a jester, to be better...

...is missing the point of pointing fingers.

And here we are, today, running through the same old steps.

The mind's eye is blind, as you seek to know the end time.

For every apocalypse is a new rebirth.

So, my dear humanity-

As you race to the finish line, reality blurs around your eyes.

You know that if you don't win, someone else will.

So savor that medal, and tell yourself how good you feel.

Empty lives,

Full of conjecture.

There is no structure

In this we call a "society."

At least, not by the design of you or me.

In the face of grave defeat,
Are heard cries for mercy.
No barrier of self control,
No innocent composure .

Abusing love and, like a child,
Inflicting pain upon itself
When the calling finally comes
Will there be no one waiting?

In blind despair taken in,
Buy any glimpse of freedom.

Sell your soul to buy some time,
Infect all your longings.

The thought that god has taken sides
On the path to breaking down....
Disconnected but not alone,
Scream to the tune of the background noise.

Endless thoughts of what is wrong,
Arrive at no conclusion.
On the floor still nursing wounds,
No sense of self to speak of.

The thought that god has taken sides,
On the path to breaking down....
Disconnected but not alone,
Scream to the tune of the background noise!

When does enough become enough?
When does "no" have meaning?

"Anarchy is not chaos-but order without control."
"Anarchy is not chaos-but order without control."

So as you preach, and speak, looking out among the pews.

Just remember, there's always someone else

Waiting to strike

To create anew.

If you want my life, my blood on your hands--

Then I suggest you take it. (I've no use for this carbon copy, anyway.)

And if you want my love, my passion in your heart--

Then I suggest you take it. (We'll make more, anyway.)

But if your goal is to restrict, decry, demonize...

Then close your ears, shield your eyes, and shut that mouth full of flies.

Oh how so many have tried to convert,

But as it goes--you can preach, and I'll pervert.

I had to tread lightly, dear Ixxy, with this hub of yours.

The mix of politics and religion makes me pissed and want to vomit something. But you did an excellent job with it.

Funny, 'we've' been out of the cave for a few thousand years and still we haven't changed much. We learn nothing!

Hey john!

I can understand the feeling nauseas. I'm glad you appreciate it just the same.

"The moment man walked out of the cave and looked up at the stars twinkling at the night sky, he reached up and tried to eat one. When he couldn't get ahold of them, he figured someone else owned them. And thus, god was born."

Unfortunately, politics has wormed it's way into everyday life, and if religion isn't political--I don't know what else is. Well, besides, politics.

I'm not a big proponent of either one assuming authority and control.

I agree John, funny, huh?

Well, there's no God to cry for help. Prayers for peace are never listened. If you want peace you have to play war first. So Man goes always in circles. War, peace, war ´peace... Intelligence is where Power resides. For Good or Evil. And that's what all this is about.

johnwindbell profile image

johnwindbell Level 1 Commenter 22 months ago

....what was all that about, watchya? We've always played war first. As a race, I don't think we're as smart as we make ourselves out to be. We still kill each other, and think there's a deity out there 'somewhere' taking notes!

Mentalist acer profile image

Even a great degree of intelligence can be cosidered a flaw, as often it is mis-used or un-used:)!!

@watchya You had me up to "war." You forget your species' history. What occurred after the darkest blight on european history? Humanity was largely too busy to war amongst it's self in Western Culture; they were too busy creating flying machines, poetry, sculptures, and beautiful paintings.

I personally believe we are the reflection of something wanting to understand what it is to be alive. Whether or not this is valid matters not to me; it helps me conceptualize the All; the omniverse. I know you and I have different thoughts on quantum reality, but it is the easiest way to explain many events that have occurred in my life, and the lives of many others.

@john

Race? Perhaps species. Some of you lot did intertwine with another species of homo, which arguably created a whole new species.

You know, even a non-religious person could think of a god in a thought experiment: if there WAS someone taking notes, what notes would they take and why?

@Mentalist acer:

Congrats, you get a cigar. Do you like Itsaboys? ;)

There's not one era in Human History where there were no wars. Or I have missed something ? While some people were creating as you said, others went to war.Germany, Italy (Roman empire), France, England, you name it. All were at war against one another or fighting other civilizations... Please tell me when was this peace era, because I can't recall.

lxxy Hub Author 22 months ago

You prove my point.

There's always a balance, as you say. Always a choice.

But if we're aware of the choice, can we not decide to play along instead of having embittered battles?

tantrum profile image

tantrum 22 months ago

Impossible. this is a bipolar kind of world. Love- hate, health-illness, beauty- ugliness, war-peace, etc etc

lxxy profile image

lxxy Hub Author 22 months ago

Yin and Yang. It's so...two dimensional.

You don't feel your species is destined for betterment?

What happens when you have no illness (and death becomes a fashion?) What happens when anyone can replicate anything, and there's plenty of water for all?

Or cosmetic surgery comes in a home kit?

I think the level of bi-polar disorder can change. ;)

But, my thoughts are not everyones. I'm just terminally optimistic, I 'spose.

We can never have peace, not totally and we can never have totally war either. Like you say Ixxy, there is a balance. It is not a GOD thing it is an OUR thing. No one is taking notes and then everyone is taking notes. They never look at themselves as being the culprit, only to others. Thanks for the read.

lxxy profile image

lxxy Hub Author 22 months ago

Exactly. When we point fingers and deny responsibility of our own individual actions we are creating this sort of "balancing" structure. Push and shove.

Thanks for reading. :)

This is great, as war equals death, corruption and blood of the innocent aka collateral damage in the government's eyes, your hub is intriguing, informative, i remain unsurprized...

Hey DarkDisOrder!

War is "death." It's also occurring in more front lines than most perceive--played out in stock options and short sales.

Thank you for your wonderful comment.
