Renaissance of Love:
Hey guys, it's lxxy...I just wanted to apologize for dropping off the radar. It's been rather eventful around here this past month or so, but all in all I can't complain. Currently I'm putting energies into two projects I've determined to be vital to my future operations as a useful contributor to the community I surround myself with. One is an article--or hub as many of you would call it--comprised of video showing how to manipulate capsules, links, and all that seemingly easy stuff that many new people have trouble with.
Two, I believe now is the time to hammer out issues with remote assisting of Universal Salon members and the general population; I would love to supplement my income--but more importantly--create a catalyst for a larger goal, which I still can't quite put into words that makes sense.
I can part with this, however; I firmly believe technology is a vital key to opening up a peaceful society. It's not the whole story, you know, because when we use our creations in fear they most often are wondrously lethal. We have to harbor no fear, no strife, and no stress.
No one ever said obtaining a brighter future would be easy.
But this is how I see my work through GeneriquelabelMedia.
You see, my business is not in whoring out artists and taking most of the profit, it's about teaching people how to utilize new technology. That is my calling. Giving others new means to create.
Ever wanted to be a singer/songwriter? What if I told you that it costs little to create an affective home recording studio? Interested? Oh, but you wouldn't know where to begin--huh? Guess what, I'll teach you that too.
What about basics of anything? I mean, do you want to learn how to publish videos in the best YouTube-approved format, in high def? Or edit a photo you've taken, found, what-not-have you? If GeneriquelabelMedia is the brand, Universal Salon is it's forum. A place where others can hook up--trade their knowledge--and show off their work, or the work of others they enjoy. Sing a song, have a drink--pal around. It's a congregation of peace.
Yes, there's trade involved here--so many of my friends have given me their time, patience, and labor. Some have given me money. The profit here is the connections I make. I'll be real honest--I'm able to have very close relations with few, but am quite hard up with the many. I have trouble concentrating on more than a few real good conversations at a space-time. And I'm the kind of guy that gets philosophical--or worse yet, waxing nostalgic.
Ah, anyway, fleeing that derailment--I'm not interested in profiting off of content as much as gaining sustainability off of teaching. Instructing. Showing. Opening up new pathways. I believe anyone with the will and patience to learn can wield a computer in any direction to fulfill their artistic endeavors. That's the magic of all this silicon--not that it can calculate accurate missile trajectories or trade stocks in a beam of light--but that we, as a civilization, have a multi purpose tool that can powerfully enrich our lives.
I wish to, in some small shape and form, accelerate the growth of technological know-how. How did it feel to first sit at a computer? Use an iPod? Or a VCR? Does yours still blink 12:00? If more people become more aware of technology even the slightest bit--we'll have opportunity in so-called "grass roots" to singlehandedly advance anyone who wishes to become an artisan of digital media.
Part of being an artisan of the digital world is knowing your tools, what their quirks are, and how to fix them if they start getting too funky. That's why I'm working furiously on a solution to reliably and securely connect to clients, so I can repair their machines and actively show them for future reference.
While we walk hand-in-hand with technology, we must never become too dependent. This is why the Renaissance of Love also aims to teach people urban gardening techniques, and over time, we're gonna try to get a good deal on solar panel solutions. But that's just a glint in the future.
So, bare with me, as all this comes together. It's hard to know how a future you're too busy creating will ultimately turn out, you know?
Here's to you, me, the Renaissance--and creativity!

Update 10/19/10
Above is a video showing a new brand of soda (I really thought the signage was funny.), and also a boxed up desk and a 1Ghz PPC eMac, which has been comadered at a low price from another non-profit called "Computers For Kids," which repairs Apple computers and gives many away, both old and new, to children with special needs.
You'll note I have a voice headset, but have neglected to add a webcam due to bandwidth issues; there really is none yet, but I'm always thinking ahead.
I've a face for radio, as it happens.
Soon everything will be all put together nice and neatly, and I'll be at any student's beck and call as often as possible, with a piece of dedicated hardware hardwired into a hefty broadband package.
Also, this eMac will allow me to teach others who have yet to have much facetime with OS X, and with Apple quickly becoming the number one PC manufacturer in the United States, if you've yet to use a Mac you may want to give one a shot.
Easy, stable, and usually pretty reliable.
While I'm a Linux guy, I'm officially fascinated by all electronics and interesting software. Apple does both.
That's all for now!

Here's What Happens When I Play
The video is a mix of different formats and aspect ratios; needless to say--while Cinlerra could mix it down, something went awry in between computer and YouTube. But I think I know what went wrong.
Accidents happen. I'm just learning it's quirks. ;)
